Mercy Medical Center / University of Maryland First Year ResidencyExperience with outpatient emergencies is provided during a four week rotation in the Emergency Department, which is well-staffed by a full-time group of University faculty physicians and residents in Emergency Medicine.

Mercy's Emergency Department is one of the busiest in Baltimore with over 40,000 adult visits annually. Here, the resident is supervised one-on-one by a University of Maryland faculty emergency medicine attending. The resident has opportunities for initial contact with all medicine patients and gains experience in the management of minor trauma as well. The first year resident works 8 hour shifts with no overnight requirement and no weekend requirement.
